Chromaffin granule monoamine (and drug) transporter, VAT1. It is involved in the transport of biogenic monoamines such as serotonin from the cytoplasm into the secretory vesicles of neuroendocrine and endocrine cells (Essand et al. 2005). It is strongly inhibited by reserpine, and to a lesser extent by ketanserin and fenfluramine, but not by tetrabenazine (Erickson et al. 1996).
