The third gene in the ytg operon is fused, the N-terminal membrane domain being fused to the C-terminal transcriptional regulator homologous to the diphtheria toxin repressor, DtxR. These two domains may be proteolitically processed yielding the two active proteins (Thompson et al. 2012).
