The glutamate receptor 1.1 precursor (GLR1.1) (Ligand-gated channel 1.1, AtGLR1 (Kang and Turano, 2003)).  Clade 3 GLRs establish their critical role in generating electrical signals and increasing cytosolic Ca2+ in response to mechanical wounding, insect and pathogen attacks, and other environmental cues for systemic defense responses.  Riaz et al. 2025 review the roles of GLR in physiological processes, abiotic and biotic stresses, and strategies to enhance plant health and productivity.
