1.A.17.5.12 The osmosensitive calcium-permeable cation channel, CSC1 or Tmem63c, of 806 aas and ~10 TMSs. It is activated by hyperosmolarity and Ca2+ (Hou et al. 2014). Tmem63c is a potential pro-survival factor in angiotensin II-treated human podocytes (Eisenreich et al. 2020). It is regulated by microRNA-564 and transforming growth factor beta (TGFβ) in human renal cells, and is therefore a potential target for albuminuria development (Orphal et al. 2020). TMEM63C mutations cause mitochondrial morphology defects and underlie hereditary spastic paraplegia (Tábara et al. 2022).
