1.A.9.5.15 Gamma-aminobutyric acid receptor subunit alpha-5, GABRA5, of 462 aas and 4 TMSs in a 3 + 1 C-terminal arrangement. It is a ligand-gated chloride channel subunit which is a component of the
heteropentameric receptor for GABA, the major inhibitory
neurotransmitter in the brain (Butler et al. 2018, Hernandez et al. 2019). It may be involved in GABA-A receptor assembly, and GABA-A receptor immobilization and accumulation by gephyrin at the synapse (Hernandez et al. 2019). Ablation of Gabra5 influences corticosterone levels and anxiety-like behavior in mice (Syding et al. 2023).
