1.D.127. The Aromatic Helical Polymer Nanochannel (ArHP-NC) Family
Qi et al. 2020 have synthesized aromatic helical polymer nanochannels by combining aromatic amide helical codons with pyridine-oxadiazole helical codons into helical structure sequences yielding a type of helical polymer nanochannel that shows structure-directed transmembrane transport functions. Although such nanochannels show relatively weak selectivity for the transport of alkali metal ions (Li+, Na+, K+, Rb+, and Cs+), accessible chemical mutation of helical structure sequences allow a chance for the design of desired channel property. The straightforward preparation of well-established pyridine-oxadiazole helical structures will promote the synthesis of such nanochannels. With the development of aromatic amide foldamers, a number of "monomers" will be available for the preparation of helical polymer nanochannels (Qi et al. 2020).
