1.D.39 The Light-controlled Azobenzene-based Amphiphilic Molecular Ion Channel (AAM-IC) Family

Light-regulated ion channel-mediated transport across lipid bilayers has been realized using structurally simple azobenzene-based amphiphilic small molecules. UV or visible irradiation triggers molecular photoisomerization, which induces structural and membrane affinity changes in self-assembled channels. This results in light-regulated ion transmembrane transport (Liu et al. 2013).
