Huntingtin-interacting protein 1, HIP1, of 1037 aas and one C-terminal TMS. It plays a role in clathrin-mediated endocytosis and trafficking (Waelter et al. 2001, Mishra et al. 2001, Legendre-Guillemin et al. 2002). It is involved in regulating AMPA receptor trafficking in the central nervous system in an NMDA-dependent manner, and it regulates presynaptic nerve terminal activity.
