Zn2+ transporter, Zip5 (540 aas; 1+3+3 TMSs; processed to a 3+3 TMS protein in the basolateral membrane; it carries out serosal to mucosal transport).  Xenotransplanted human organoids identify transepithelial zinc transports, SLC39A4 and A5, as two mediators of intestinal adaptation (Sampah et al. 2024). Genetic inactivation of SLC39A5 improves liver function and hyperglycemia in obesogenic settings (Chim et al. 2024).
