8.A.114.1.6 Palmitoyltransferase ZDHHC20 of 365 aas and 4 TMSs in a 2 + 2 TMS arrangement. It catalyzes palmitoylation of Cys residues in target proteins (Runkle et al. 2016). It has a preference for acyl-CoA with C16 fatty acid chains but can also utilize acyl-CoA with C14 and C18 fatty acid chains (Rana et al. 2018). It derivatizes the IFITM3 protein (TC# 8.A.58.1.3) which has anti-viral activity and makes physical contact with the V-ATPase in endosomes which is required for the function of
this ATPase (McMichael et al. 2017). Posttranslational palmitoylation provides a mechanism of non-conventional traffic and secretion of fungal metabolites (Martín and Liras 2024).
