Na+/H+ exchange regulatory cofactor NHE-RF4, NHERF4, of 571 aas.  It acts as a regulatory protein that associates with GUCY2C and negatively modulates its heat-stable enterotoxin-mediated activation (Scott et al. 2002).  It stimulates SLC9A3 activity in the presence of elevated calcium ions (Zachos et al. 2008).  Catalytic region mimetics in Na+ /H+ exchanger regulatory factor 4 suppress Guanylate Cyclase 2C activity to regulate enterotoxin triggered diarrhea (Ramananda et al. 2025).
