8.A.48 The Putative Auxiliary Aromatic Acid Exporter (AaeX) Family

The AaeX family (the DUF1656 family) includes many small proteins of 60 - 90 aas and 2 TMSs.  These proteins are associated with and encoded within operons encoding transporters of the AAE (TC# 2.A.85) Family.  Some members are annotated (probably incorrectly) FixA.

Examples:

8.A.48.1.1

DUF1656 protein, YdhI or AaeX1 of 78 aas and 2 TMSs.  It's gene is in an operon with a gene encoding YdhK, a member of the ArAE family (2.A.85) in the gene order ydhI - ydhJ (MFP; 8.A.1) - ydhK.
