9.B.143 The 6 TMS DUF1275/PF06912 (DUF1275) Family

Many bacterial DUF1275 family proteins are retrieved in PSI BLAST searches with iterations.  It is a large family with members having a fairly uniform topology of 6 TMSs as expected for half-sized protein members of the MFS. Some members are encoded by a gene adjacent to a probable YtcJ-like metalo-amido-hydrolase suggesting a role in uptake of peptides or other amido compounds or efflux of their hydrolysis products.

This family belongs to the Major Facilitator (MFS) Superfamily.
