8.A.179.1.1 | Nicotinic Acetylcholine Receptor Regulator (NACHO; TMEM35A) of 167 aas and 4 TMSs in a 1 + 3 TMS arrangement (Loring 2022). It is a molecular chaperone that mediates the proper assembly and functional expression of nicotinic acetylcholine receptors (nAChRs) throughout the brain (Gu et al. 2016, Rex et al. 2017, Kweon et al. 2020). Inhibition of AMPA receptors (AMPARs, e.g., TC# 1.A.10.1.1) containing transmembrane AMPAR regulatory protein gamma-8 (TC# 8.A.61.1.10) with JNJ-55511118 (TC#8.A.179.1.1; NACHO) shows preclinical efficacy in reducing chronic repetitive alcohol self-administration (Hoffman et al. 2021).
