The mitochondrial ATP synthase stress-responsive protein of 55 aas and 1 TMS, AtMtATP6 or At3g35320; possibly a subunit of the ATP synthase/ATPase (Zhang et al. 2008).  Its gene expression is induced by several abiotic stresses: salt, drought, and cold. Over-expression of the AtMtATP6 gene in transgenic yeast and Arabidopsis plants increased the resistance to salts, drought, oxidative and cold stresses (Zhang et al. 2008).
